Modeled after SCHEELS stores in Fargo, ND; Springfield, IL; and Sandy, UT; the SCHEELS in Overland Park features specialty shops ranging from technical running gear and the latest fashion, to spectacular hunting and fishing shops. The athletic shoe, hiking boot, and casual footwear selection is the largest in Overland Park with everything for toddlers to all athletes, from serious hikers to beach goers, and from hunters to the fashion conscious. There is a World Class golf shop, bike shop, ski shop, canoe and kayak shop, and fishing shop. The gun and hunting shops have the largest selection of guns in Kansas, ranging from everyday shooters to collectible firearms. All of these shops are centered around a two-story, 90’ high atrium housing a 65’ Ferris Wheel, 16,000 gallon aquarium and wildlife mountain.
From an electrical standpoint, facility-wide systems such as communications, fire alarm, power distribution and lighting controls are uniform throughout the building. For lighting and other specialty systems, each shop was created with its own unique look. In some locations light fixtures and other components were custom designed specifically for Scheels.
